PINATECA vs BACKLOG

A Gantt chart is not worth ¥16,000.

Gantt charts in Backlog start at the Standard plan (¥16,000 per month). In Pinateca they are in the free plan. Backlog does have Git and SVN repositories built in, which Pinateca does not.

Why people move from Backlog to Pinateca

Gantt is free

Drawing a schedule in Backlog needs Standard (¥16,000 per month). For a team of ten, Pinateca costs $50 a month and includes the Gantt chart.

Chat is inside

Backlog has no chat channels. Nulab's Typetalk shut down on 1 December 2025, so conversation now happens in an outside tool. Pinateca has a channel per workspace.

Custom fields from the start

Custom attributes in Backlog start at Premium (¥27,000 per month). In Pinateca you add your own fields to a card on the free plan.

05

When Backlog is the better choice

Each tool is better at some things. If any of the following describes you, staying with Backlog will work out better.

  • You want Git and SVN repositories in the same place as the issues. Pinateca has no repository feature
  • You have 30 or more people. Backlog charges per organization, so the cost per head falls as you grow
  • You want a wiki for procedures and internal knowledge
06

Moving your data

There is no automatic import from Backlog. Moving is done by hand.
